Sara Obelleiro & Alex Cervera
Sara Obelleiro studied at and at Can Ruti Hospital. She’s volunteer in Red Cross. She studied medi- cine at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). After achieving a place for the MIR in Girona two years ago, she is currently doing her residence in CAP Joan Vilaplana, in Taialà. She combines her job with duty shifts at Hospital Universitario Dr. Josep Trueta and PAC Güell. Her job entails working with adults, young and older people and she also takes part in community health campaings.
Alex Cervera is a 25 years old physician resident of first year of family medicine in the Hospital Jo- sep Trueta in Girona and the EAP Can Gibert Del Pla. His day to day life is to train himself and, at the same time, to work as part of a medical group where he is doing his apprenticeship. For example, this months of March and April, he has been being a “neurologist” at the hospital. Also, during ve nights per month, he has been a guard-medic, so he supervised and acted as an emergency doctor. His life now consists on that: learning the generalities of the world of medicine (wide but exciting). As a future family doctor, I am especially sensitive to social inequalities, which are social conditioners, with more relevance than we could even think, but I also have a special concern for changing things and bad habits that can make our healthcare system even better (because I do consider our public health a treasure).
